Our unique TME testing helps your doctor determine if your metal and element levels may show potentially toxic levels linked to unexplained signs and symptoms. Your body needs small amounts of certain elements such as copper and zinc, but elevated levels of many metals and elements — such as lead, mercury, arsenic and cadmium — can be toxic at any level. This urine test can help determine if your metal and element levels are within a healthy range or if they may indicate potentially toxic levels that could be linked to unexplained symptoms.
Note: This is our untimed, single collection Urinary Metals & Elements Test. This test is typically used to establish a baseline for these elements, and to determine if there is any ongoing exposure to harmful metals or elements. It's beneficial to do an unprovoked urine test first (without taking a chelating agent) so that any current exposure to toxic elements can be discovered and eliminated. We also offer a timed, provoked Urinary Metals and Elements Test, which provides info on older exposures and heavy metals being stored in your body.
The Urinary Toxic Metals & Elements (TME) test from DiagnosTechs tests for 34 analytes plus creatinine. Metals and elements measured by this test include: Aluminum (Al), Antimony (Sb), Arsenic (As), Barium (Ba), Beryllium (Be), Cadmium (Cd), Calcium (Ca), Cesium (Cs), Chromium (Cr), Cobalt (Co), Copper (Cu), Gadolinium (Gd), Iron (Fe), Lead (Pb), Lithium (Li), Magnesium (Mg), Manganese (Mn), Mercury (Hg), Molybdenum (Mo), Nickel (Ni), Palladium (Pd), Platinum (Pt), Rubidium (Rb), Selenium (Se), Silver (Ag), Strontium (Sr), Thallium (Tl), Thorium (Th), Tin (Sn), Titanium (Ti), Tungsten (W), Uranium (U), Vanadium (V), Zinc (Zn), and Creatinine.
The critical advantages of toxic metals and elements testing:
- Metals can enter the body through the skin, by inhalation or ingestion.
- Toxicity can result from sudden, severe exposure, or from chronic exposure over time.
- Symptoms can vary depending on the metal involved, the amount absorbed, and the age of the person exposed. For example, young children can be more susceptible to the effects of lead exposure than their adult counterparts.
- Modifications to environment and lifestyle can remove exposures that can contribute to the overall toxic body burden.
- Patients who experience unexplained health symptoms due to toxicity can work with their doctors to create treatment plans to help eliminate toxins and improve their quality of life.
Our Urinary Toxic Metals & Elements (TME) panel can be helpful for evaluating patients who are experiencing the following unexplained signs and symptoms:
- Joint and musculoskeletal pain
- Chronic fatigue
- Metabolic disorders (e.g. diabetes) and difficulty losing weight
- Abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea (hallmark symptoms with most cases of acute metal exposure)
- Anemia (a classic sign of chronic metal exposure)
- Cognitive dysfunction such as memory loss, Parkinson’s Disease and “brain fog”
- Neurodegenerative diseases, such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) or Lou Gehrig’s disease
- Heart abnormalities such as cardiomyopathy or abnormal heart beat (dysrhythmia)
- Nervous system symptoms (e.g. numbness, tingling of hands and feet, and weakness)
- Skin disorders such as eczema and/or psoriasis
- Autoimmune diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis
- Hypertension
- Renal disease
- Liver disease
Convenient, Simple, and Thorough:
- Collection is noninvasive and painless.
- Samples can be conveniently collected from your home

How the Testing Process Works
- When you order a Urinary Toxic Metals & Elements (TME) panel, we will mail you a testing kit.
- The accuracy of a urinary test depends upon many factors. While our lab partner, DiagnosTechs Labs, is responsible for the technical aspects of the test, the results will only be as good as the raw material or sample that is received. For this reason, please carefully follow the instructions included in the kit when collecting your urine samples.
- After you send the kit directly to the lab with your sample (per the instructions provided), it takes approximately 7-10 days for Optimal Health Network to receive the test results from the lab.
-
We will email a PDF of the test results to you once we receive them from the lab. These will be emailed to the email address associated with your Optimal Health Network account.
- When you receive your test results from us, please fill out our secure client intake form. After you submit the form, you will receive a link to schedule your complimentary 15-minute consultation with Kristina via her booking calendar.

- IMPORTANT! If you are ordering this test for someone else (e.g., a family member) to take, please include the test-taking individual's full name in the ORDER COMMENTS box upon checkout to ensure we can match the lab results to your order and therefore be able to mail the results to you.
